GLOBAL MARKETS ROUNDUP
    * Asian shares got off to a tentative start on Friday after
a weak performance on Wall Street, and global bond yields
dropped on creeping doubts on the strength of the U.S. economic
recovery.
    * The New Zealand dollar hovered at its highest in nearly
three years early on Friday, having taken on a starring role in
a subdued currency market as investors sought higher-yielding
currencies.
    * Crude oil on both sides of the Atlantic fell on Thursday
as fears eased over export disruptions from war-ravaged Iraq,
allowing market participants to take some profit off the table.

    * U.S. Treasuries yields dropped on Thursday as traders
eyeing a possible slowing of American economic growth drove up
prices for a fourth straight day.

    KEY FACTORS TO WATCH
    * Weekly foreign exchange reserves data at 5 p.m. IST.
    KEY DEALS
    * Shriram Transport Finance will raise at least 5 billion
rupees ($84 million) from a bond issue in the first week of
July. The company will raise up to a maximum of 30 billion
rupees in tenors of three, five and seven years. Edelweiss
Capital, ICICI Securities, AK Capital and JM Financial are among
the lead managers of the issue.
    * L&T Infrastructure Finance, a unit of engineering
conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, is to issue 6 billion
rupees of secured bonds, with an option to issue another 4
billion rupees depending on demand. L&T Infra said the private
placement had been expanded from an earlier target of up to 7
billion rupees. (IFR)
   
    OVERNIGHT NEWS
    * India's new prime minister, Narendra Modi, faces
accusations his government ran a campaign to block the
appointment of a Supreme Court judge it believed was biased
against it, fuelling a debate about judicial independence in the
world's largest democracy.
    * India made a $550 million payment to Iran on Thursday to
partly clear pending oil dues, under an interim deal that allows
Tehran access to $4.2 billion in blocked funds globally,
industry and government sources said.
    * Prospects of economic recovery in India look bright
following the formation of a stable government, though supply
side issues need to be solved to help monetary policy bring down
inflation, the Reserve Bank of India said on Thursday.

GLOBAL MARKETS ROUNDUP
    * Asian shares swung higher on Thursday as weak U.S. growth
seemed to further delay the day when interest rates might rise,
pulling down bond yields globally and pushing investors toward
riskier assets in a desperate search for returns.
    * The dollar languished near one-month lows against a basket
of major currencies early on Thursday, having been knocked back
hard after revised U.S. growth figures for the first quarter
came in shockingly weak.
    * U.S. crude oil inched higher on Wednesday after news of a
U.S. government decision to permit exports of lightly refined
oil, while Brent oil fell as fears of supply cuts from Iraq
receded.
    * U.S. Treasuries prices rose on Wednesday after government
data showed the U.S. economy took a much worse bruising in early
2014 than previously calculated.

    KEY DEALS
    * The $205m three-year refinancing guaranteed by Tata
Power Company has received its first commitment with
State Bank of India joining as mandated lead arranger and
bookrunner, according to a source close to the deal.
   
    OVERNIGHT NEWS
    * India deferred a decision on Wednesday to raise prices of
locally produced gas for next three months, saying the matter
requires more discussion.
    * India has moved a step closer to establishing industrial
parks with China, the country's law minister said on Wednesday,
as New Delhi looks to rebalance a $40 billion trade deficit with
its northern neighbour.
    * The Indian government has raised the price at which it
will buy the new season common rice from local farmers by 3.8
percent to 1,360 rupees ($22.78) per 100 kilograms, Law Minister
Ravi Shankar Prasad told a news conference after a cabinet
meeting.

GLOBAL MARKETS ROUNDUP
    * Asian shares were on the back foot early on Wednesday,
taking their cue from Wall Street as the deepening crisis in
Iraq and a report that the U.S. could be loosening restrictions
on crude exports triggered a rally in oil prices.
    * The British pound nursed losses on Wednesday after
comments from the Bank of England governor cooled expectations
for an interest rate hike this year, while its G3 counterparts
drifted in well-worn ranges.
    * Brent crude held above $114 a barrel on Tuesday, supported
by continued fighting in Iraq, supply disruptions in Libya and
expectations of a decline in U.S. crude inventories, while U.S.
crude prices dipped slightly.
    * U.S. Treasuries' prices rose on Tuesday, getting a lift
from investors turning away from weakening Wall Street equities
and reawakened geopolitical worries due to fighting in Iraq.
