Indian equities are likely to open higher on Monday, tracking bullish cues from Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange and mixed trading across Asian markets, supported by timely arrival of southwest monsoon rains coupled with sustained foreign institutional investors (FII) inflows. Expectations of good monsoon rains this year and a favourable macroeconomic environment may further boost market sentiment. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for June delivery, which were trading 9,661.50, up by 16.00 points or 0.17 per cent, at 10:50 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for local bourses. With major part of the earning season is over, progress of monsoon rains and Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy review would influence market sentiment this week. Globally, the European Central Bank monetary policy and the UK 'snap election' on June 08 will also drive market this week. On the corporate front, NTPC will remain in focus after the state-run firm entered into the new business segment of setting up charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) and has installed first such points at its offices in Delhi and Noida.

On Friday, the Indian equities ended higher, with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty hitting an all-time high, helped by gains in index heavyweights, such as ITC, HDFC, Adani, Wipro, Bharti Airtel, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Bank and Cipla. The market rally was also fueled by sustained buying by foreign and domestic investors amid expectations of good monsoon rains and a favourable macroeconomic environment. In a boost to economy, global rating agency, Moody’s Investors Service, has said that government’s policy reforms, such as implementation of GST and resolution of sticky loans, may improve the country’s credit profile. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 31273.29, up by 135.7 points or by 0.44 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9653.5, up by 37.4 points or by 0.39 per cent. Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were Vedanta Ltd. 15208618.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 12245022.00, State Bank of India 12004368.00, ITC Ltd. 11073749.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 8824329.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 145.25 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 22302.61 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 126974 with a total turnover of Rs. 10206.00 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 556234 with a total turnover of Rs. 40215.15 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 2103399 with a total turnover of Rs. 174353.65 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 291978 with a total turnover of Rs. 22171.20 Crore. As on June 02, 2017, the FIIs turned net buyer in debt segment, but turned net seller in equity market. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4547.31 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 2316.78 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4998.12 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1157.53 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -450.81 Crore and Rs. 1159.25.

Indian equities are likely to open in positive territory on Wednesday, tracking firm cues from Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange and mixed trading across Asian markets after Wall Street ended lower in overnight trade. The investor sentiments were spooked by mounting geo-political tension on North Korea front and US President Donald Trump's abrupt dismissal of the FBI Director James Comey. Back home, bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for May delivery, which were trading at 9,365.50, up by 15.50 points or 0.17 per cent, at 10:42 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for local bourses. The India Meteorological Department’s forecast of higher-than-expected monsoon this year may also fuel rally in the domestic market as it would boost economic growth. Investors will react to earnings report of Bharti Airtel after telecom major reported a 72 per cent fall in net profits at Rs 373 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, weighed down by rival Reliance Jio’s aggressive pricing strategy. On the corporate front, Hero MotoCorp, Zee Entertainment, Bharat Dalmia, Phoenix Mills, Siemens, MIC Electronics and Kirloskar Oil Engines will remain in focus as they will unveil March quarter earnings report today. Among others, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) initial public offering got subscribed 3 times on the second day of the public offer on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the key benchmarks ended flat with marginal gains, helped by strong buying across capital goods, metal and power stocks, tracking mixed cues from Asian peers after the Wall Street ended flat in overnight trade. The market gains were restricted as traders awaited corporate earnings of index heavyweights, Bharti Airtel, Petronet LNG, InterGlobe Aviation and Future Retail due later today and Hero MotoCorp tomorrow. Adding to it, selling across consumer durables and banking stocks also restricted upmove. The 30-share barometer SENSEX closed at 29933.25, up by 7.1 points or by 0.02 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9316.85, up by 2.8 points or by 0.03 per cent. Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were ICICI Bank Ltd. 13812893.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 1355111.00, Axis Bank Ltd. 7872272.00, State Bank of India 7843574.00, ITC Ltd. 6748832.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 123.62 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 23564.99 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 123408 with a total turnover of Rs. 9683.56 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 644598 with a total turnover of Rs. 48239.21 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 2926464 with a total turnover of Rs. 244145.70 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 365456 with a total turnover of Rs. 28569.05 Crore.

As on May 09, 2017, the FIIs continued to remain net seller in equity segment, but turned net buyer in debt market. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 3364.40 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1203.77 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 3945.75 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 163.73 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -581.35 Crore and Rs. 1040.04.

Indian equities are set to open flat to higher on Tuesday, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers, in lack of any major trigger on domestic front. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,887.00, up by 11 points or 0.12 per cent, at 10:52 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for Sensex. After strong rally in the last few sessions, the market may see some volatility as investors will rollover their position ahead of February F&O expiry on Thursday. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) as well as domestic institutional investors remained bullish on Indian equities and extended their exposure to Indian market. With corporate earnings season come to an end, traders will shift focus to the outcome of the state election results for more clarity on the government's capacity to revive stalled reforms, which will set future direction for markets. On the global front, Asian stocks were trading higher, while Wall Street remained closed on eve of Presidents’ Day. Back home, the market may see stocks specific movement with Unitech in focus after the Supreme Court asked the company to pay interest to home buyers for its delayed Vistas project in Gurgaon.

On Monday, the key equity benchmarks continued gaining momentum for the third consecutive session as investors engaged in broad-based buying, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers. Telecom stocks hogged the limelight on merger buzz with Idea Cellular rallied 2.5 per cent on report that Vodafone may soon finalize merger deal with the company. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 28661.58, up by 192.83 points or by 0.68 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8879.2, up by 57.5 points or by 0.65 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were Idea Cellular Ltd. 23233290.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 17874216.00, State Bank of India 9229363.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 9043256.00, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. 8954741.00. On NSE, total number of shares traded was 120.40 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 19603.70 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 223401 with a total turnover of Rs. 15868.70 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1062383 with a total turnover of Rs. 74929.51 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 3752151 with a total turnover of Rs. 268738.18 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 481765 with a total turnover of Rs. 36619.81 Crore.

As on February 20, 2017, the FIIs stood as net buyer in both equity and debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 13274.72 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 487.71 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5215.43 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 437.32 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 8059.29 Crore and Rs. 50.39.

Indian equities are likely to continue buying momentum on Friday aided by the strong rally in the global markets, especially Wall Street which hit record high on upbeat retail sales and inflation data while President Trump reassured of mass tax cuts. Asian stocks were trading mixed on fear that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates earlier than expected following robust US economic data. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,827.50, up by 39.5 points or 0.45 per cent, at 10:20 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for Sensex. With corporate earnings season come to an end, traders will shift focus to the outcome of the state election results for more clarity on the government's capacity to revive stalled reforms, which will set future direction for markets. The market may see stocks specific movement with IOC, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Idea and BHEL shares will remain in focus as the first two companies would be included in NSE’s Nifty50 index, replacing the other two.

Snapping two-day losses, the key equity benchmarks rebounded strongly on Thursday helped by gain in index heavyweights such as SBI, TCS, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Maruti Suzuki, GAIL (India) and Tata Motors. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) climbed over 1 per cent after IT bellwether said its board will meet on February 20, 2017 to consider a proposal for buyback of equity shares of the company. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 28301.27, up by 145.71 points or by 0.52 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8778, up by 53.3 points or by 0.61 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were State Bank of India 21794688.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 18416223.00, Tata Motors Ltd. 11622714.00, ITC Ltd. 10575410.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 10429023.00. On NSE, total number of shares traded was 106.99 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 21744.28 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 204458 with a total turnover of Rs. 14765.47 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 669850 with a total turnover of Rs. 46775.43 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 7963896 with a total turnover of Rs. 616413.68 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 458186 with a total turnover of Rs. 33143.86 Crore.

As on February 16, 2017, the FIIs stood as net buyer in both equity and debt segments. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5551.14 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1060.08 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5297.52 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 814.33 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 253.62 Crore and Rs. 245.75.

Adding uncertainty over global economic environment, US President Donald Trump scrapped the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal on Monday. Firm trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for January delivery, which were trading at 8,427.50, up by 13.50 points or 0.16 per cent, at 11:02 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive start for Sensex. The volatility will remain high in the holiday shortened week with the January expiry happening a day ahead of Republic Day holiday. Investors would also react to earnings reports of index heavyweights such as, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Biocon, IDBI Bank, TVS Motor, Indian Overseas Bank, and HCL Technologies, which will test the nerves of the traders with their financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2016.

On Monday, the Indian equities ended on positive note helped by bargain hunting across metal and PSU stocks. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 27117.34, up by 82.84 points or by 0.31 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8391.5, up by 42.15 points or by 0.5 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were ICICI Bank Ltd. 39812153.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 18223180.00, Axis Bank Ltd. 16502895.00, Idea Cellular Ltd. 16183308.00, ITC Ltd. 10690194.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 86.72 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 17667.07 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 325360 with a total turnover of Rs. 21803.23 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1207385 with a total turnover of Rs. 78332.84 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 5780584 with a total turnover of Rs. 388484.49 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 434986 with a total turnover of Rs. 29803.71 Crore.

The FIIs on January 23, 2017 stood as net buyer in equity, but net seller in debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4542.43 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 565.76 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4509.14 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1238.71 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 33.29 Crore and Rs. -672.95.

Indian equities are poised to open higher on Friday, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers, as strong IIP and CPI data coupled with better earnings report by TCS may give a boost to market sentiment. Firm trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for January delivery, which were trading at 8,442.00, up by 15.00 points or 0.18 per cent, at 10:40 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive start for Sensex. On the global front, Asian stocks were trading higher, while Wall Street ended lower in overnight trade. Back home, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) surprised Dalal-Street on Thursday by reporting a better-than-expected year-on-year growth of 11.2 per cent in its consolidated net profit after taxes (PAT) at Rs 6,814 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016. Investors would also react to India’s industrial activity (IIP) in November which hit a 12-month high of 5.7 per cent, while CPI inflation in December declined to 3.41 per cent from 3.63 per cent in the previous month. Stocks of Infosys will remain in focus as the country’s second largest software exporter would unveil its third quarter earnings report today.

On Thursday, Indian equity benchmarks extended their rally for the third straight session amid sustained buying by retail and foreign portfolio investors, despite muted cues from fellow Asian peers. IT index rallied nearly 2 per cent on hopes that newly elected US President Donald Trump may not impose stringent visa rules, while pharma index tumbled nearly 1 per cent after Trump said he will create new procedures for bidding on drugs. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 27247.16, up by 106.75 points or by 0.39 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8407.2, up by 26.55 points or by 0.32 per cent.

Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 546634 with a total turnover of Rs. 36662.85 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 6639495 with a total turnover of Rs. 481190.60 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 399445 with a total turnover of Rs. 27258.43 Crore.

The FIIs on January 12, 2017 stood as net seller in both equity and debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 3936.03 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1543.63 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4621.48 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1543.67 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -685.45 Crore and Rs. -0.04.
