Indian equities are poised to open higher on Friday, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers, as rally in crude oil and status quo on policy rate by the US Federal Reserve and Bank of England are likely to boost market sentiment. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,734.50, up by 0.50 points or 0.01 per cent, at 10:52 AM Singapore time, also signaled a flat to higher opening for Sensex. The market may see stock specific movement as over 100 companies will unveil their quarterly earnings report, including Adlabs Entertainment, Aban Offshore, Inox Wind, Whirlpool of India and Zee Media. BSE, which recently concluded its Rs 1,243-crore initial public offering, will remain in focus as it will list on rival National Stock Exchange (NSE) today.
On Thursday, the key domestic benchmark extended rally post Union Budget by rising 85 points to reclaim the 28,200 level on Thursday, as finance minister announced policy measures to ease pain arising out of demonetization and focused on infrastructure and housing spending. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 28226.61, up by 84.97 points or by 0.3 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8734.25, up by 17.85 points or by 0.2 per cent.
Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were Idea Cellular Ltd. 63493172.00, ITC Ltd. 29722686.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 26282657.00, State Bank of India 20139955.00, Bank of Baroda 14260877.00.
On NSE, total number of shares traded was 149.01 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 26848.21 Crore.
On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 251639 with a total turnover of Rs. 18062.85 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 715168 with a total turnover of Rs. 49901.93 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 7753765 with a total turnover of Rs. 595895.72 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 392427 with a total turnover of Rs. 28353.20 Crore.
The FIIs on February 02, 2017, stood as net buyer in both equity and debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5476.36 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1230.55 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5401.58 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 416.34 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 74.78 Crore and Rs. 814.21.
