Mid-Session: Sensex slips in red; Nifty hover below 9900

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 31889.53 down by 65.82 points or by 0.21 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 9896.3 down by 3.3 points or by 0.03 per cent.
In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched an intraday high of 32057.12 and intraday low of 31889.44 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9922.55 and intraday low of 9888.55.
Major laggards on the D-street included, Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 558.85,-2.13%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 417.00,-1.03%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 970.50,-0.96%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3730.60,-0.95%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1145.40,-0.93%), among others.
However, some buying was witnessed in stocks including Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 534.30,+2.72%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 164.65,+0.98%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 573.00,+0.85%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1188.20,+0.61%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1389.75,+0.46%), among others.
Among the sectors, Metal index was at 12179.22 down by -120.44 points or by -0.98%. Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 558.30,-2.22%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 215.20,-1.96%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 69.85,-1.83%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 140.85,-1.57%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 62.75,-1.41%),.
On the flip side, Bankex index was at 27451.69 up by 76.34 points or by 0.28%. Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 533.45,+2.56%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 118.05,+2.34%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1569.25,+0.39%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 998.00,+0.33%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1694.30,+0.10%),.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2708 , shares advanced were 1255 while 1308 shares declined and 145 were unchanged.
