The Indian benchmarks are set to open higher on Wednesday tracking positive handover from Wall Street. US markets hit a fresh record high in overnight trade led by gains in McDonald's and Caterpillar post quarterly results and gains for bank shares.
The banking stocks will be in focus today after a report said that banks hoping to escape steep provisions on loans referred to bankruptcy court, apart from the 12 companies that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently mandated for the insolvency process, are set to be disappointed.
As much as 34 companies on the BSE will be declaring their results for the quarter ended June 30 later today which include names like Adlabs Entertainment, Bharat Financial Inclusions, Aditya Birla Money, Federal Bank, HCL Infosystems, Inox Leisure, L&T Finance & Holdings.
Positive trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for July delivery, which were trading at 9980.50, up by 7.50 points or 0.08 per cent, at 11:28 AM Singapore time, signaled a higher opening for the domestic bourses.
On Tuesday, the Indian equities ended flat in choppy trade, weighed down by losses in capital goods and auto stocks, tracking weak cues from Asian peers. The 30-share barometer SENSEX closed at 32228.27, down by 17.6 points or by 0.05 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9964.55, down by 1.85 points or by 0.02 per cent.
Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – ICICI Bank Ltd. 18129742.00, Vedanta Ltd. 12590219.00, State Bank of India 10846999.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 10567887.00, ITC Ltd. 9559657.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 164.35 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 25650.96 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 220372 with a total turnover of Rs. 18057.32 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1193890 with a total turnover of Rs. 86655.37 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 4562908 with a total turnover of Rs. 377111.78 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 600735 with a total turnover of Rs. 45676.46 Crore. The FIIs on 25/07/2017 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4806.28 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 2855.92 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5076.61 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1228.54 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -270.33 Crore and Rs. 1627.38

Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -270.33 Crore and Rs. 1627.38
