* ALLAHABAD BANK: Has proposed to close its branch in Hong Kong as part of rationalisation of overseas operations.

* BAJAJ AUTO: Aims to become the world's largest maker of premium motorcycles in 5-10 years. Plans to increase its share to 20% in domestic motorcycle market in the next two quarters.

* BATA INDIA: Will open about 100 own and 50 franchise stores this year by investing 1 bln rupees, Uday Khanna, chairman, said. As volume sales stagnate, the company will look at premiumisation of its portfolio to push up its average selling prices.

* BHARAT PETROLEUM CORP: The board on Friday approved the proposal to transfer the company's gas business division to its wholly owned subsidiary Bharat Gas Resources through a slump sale.

* BHARTI AIRTEL: Chief technology officers of telecom operators Reliance Jio and the company have resigned from their respective companies.

* BIRLA CORP: The company plans to scale up cement production capacity to 20 mtpa, in the next two-three years.

* CADILA HEALTHCARE: Has received the final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to market Acetylcysteine injection in 6-gm per 30 ml strength.

* CEAT: The company's shareholders approved raising up to 5 bln rupees through secured or unsecured nonconvertible debentures or other securities on private placement basis in one or more tranches.

* EICHER MOTORS: The company on Friday introduced 7-speed transmission technology in the entire range of medium-duty trucks.

* FEDERAL BANK: Has received the regulatory nod to open offices in Bahrain, Kuwait and Singapore, but is awaiting local clearances before it starts operations.

* GENERAL INSURANCE CORP OF INDIA: Premium collection under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in 2018-19 (Jul-Jun) is likely to rise 10% to 270 bln rupees.

* GP PETROLEUMS: GP Global Energy, a subsidiary of the company, has entered into a partnership with a Spanish lubricants company, Cepsa, to make and market the latter's marine and power generation lubricants in India.

* HATHWAY CABLE & DATACOM: The board has approved raising up to 1 bln rupees by issuing shares on a preferential basis to the promoter group company Hathway Investments at a price not less than 32.25 rupees a share.

* HINDALCO INDUSTRIES: Novelis, the US-based downstream arm of the company, is closing in on a $2.3 bln-$2.5 bln acquisition of Aleris Corp.

* IDBI BANK: Life Insurance Corp of India may trim stake below 10% in a number of banks to convince RBI that its majority stake acquisition in IDBI Bank does not pose conflict of interest and will not jeopardise stability in the financial sector.

* IDEA CELLULAR: Vodafone India is looking to raise 40-50 bln rupees from local and overseas banks in a bid to pay dues to the Department of Telecommunication to help seal a merger with the company at the earliest.

* IFCI: Has sold 3 mln shares, representing 3.66% of the total paid-up equity share capital, of JBF Industries through two bulk deals on Friday on the NSE and the BSE.

* IL&FS TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS: The company is awaiting response from authorities on administrative defaults for execution of the Gurgugram Metro project.

* INDIAN HOTELS CO: Will be opening eight new hotels this year and is targeting a 30% revenue growth over the next few years as the sentiment has turned positive for the industry.

* INDIAN OVERSEAS BANK: The bank's General Manager Radha Venkatakrishnan has been appointed as the chief financial officer of the bank, effective Thursday.

* INDIA TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORP: Has invited request for proposal to operate and manage its Hotel Kalinga Ashok in Bhubaneswar.

* INFOSYS: Has flagged off concerns around increased rejection of work visa applications, and said this could result in delays and increase in project costs for its clients.

* INTELLECT DESIGN ARENA: The board will meet on Wednesday to consider fund raising through preferential issue.

* INTERGLOBE AVIATION: High fuel price and aircraft acquisition cost have prompted IndiGo to have second thoughts on acquiring Airbus A330neo wide-body jets, through which it had planned to launch low-cost, long-haul direct flights to European cities from the coming winter.

* IMP POWERS: Has launched three kinetic energy turbines in India.

* JUST DIAL: The company's board has approved the buyback of up to 2.75 mln shares or 4.08% stake at 800 rupees apiece for 2.2 bln rupees.

* KARNATAKA BANK: Has launched the DigiLocker facility by integrating it with the bank's MoneyClick Internet Banking channel.

* LYKA LABS: The board has accepted the in-principle approval received from DENA BANK for compromise settlement of the company's account.

* MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA FINANCIAL SERVICES: The board of directors of the subsidiary Mahindra Rural Housing Finance on Wednesday approved the issue of secured or unsecured redeemable non-convertible debentures including subordinated debentures on a private placement basis, for an aggregate amount not exceeding 60 bln rupees.

* MARUTI SUZUKI INDIA: The company's compact sedan Dzire and premium hatchback Swift overtook the sales of Alto, pushing back the entry-level hatchback to third position in the top 10 passenger vehicles list in  June, according to data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

* MMTC: The government is unlikely to go ahead with the commerce ministry's proposal for merger of the company and STC.

* MULTI COMMODITY EXCHANGE OF INDIA: Is mulling a foray into the farm segment with options in cotton and crude palm oil.

* MUTHOOT FINANCE: Has secured a preliminary approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India to set up an asset management company and a trustee company.

* NHPC: The board will meet on Jul 30 to consider raising up to 33 bln rupees through corporate debentures or bonds on private placement basis.

* OIL & NATURAL GAS CORP: Five central oil public sector undertakings- INDIAN OIL CORP, the company, GAIL (INDIA), OIL INDIA and Numaligarh Refinery - has signed a joint venture agreement for executing the North-East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid as a step towards the Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Project.

* POWER FINANCE CORP: Plans to raise at least 5 bln rupees through the issue of bonds maturing in five and 10 years, and has invited bids from merchant bankers on Tuesday.

* POWER GRID CORP OF INDIA: Has signed a memorandum of understanding with Uttar Pradesh Power Corp for energy efficiency and agricultural demand side management programme.

* PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK: A special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Friday granted bail to Aniyath Shivaraman Nair, a former director of the bank, who was arrested in connection with the Nirav Modi fraud case.

* RELIANCE COMMUNICATIONS: The telecom department has told the company its licences will be cancelled unless it pays 7.74 bln rupees in bank guarantees towards upcoming spectrum payment dues, effectively threatening the company's deal to sell its airwaves to Reliance Jio Infocomm.

* RELIANCE INDUSTRIES: Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of the company, has introduced an exchange offer for its customers to buy Jiophone for 501 rupees on exchanging any old 2G, 3G or 4G phone. Reliance Brands, a subsidiary of the company, has bought an additional 8.14% stake in Genesis Colors for around 341.70 mln rupees. An international arbitration tribunal is likely to come with its final award in the next 10 days on the dispute relating to production of migrated gas by the company.

* SHREYAS SHIPPING & LOGISTICS: Global United Shipping India and Seaport Cargo Logistics have submitted initial bids on a tender floated by CONTAINER CORPORATION OF INDIA to start coastal shipping operations.

* SPICEJET: Chairman Ajay Singh may not have to dilute his stake in the airline, as an arbitration tribunal has ruled in its favour in a share purchase dispute with previous promoter Kalanithi Maran.

* STATE BANK OF INDIA: The bank, others to sign an inter-creditor pact today.

* TATA MOTORS: Has restarted talks on the sale of a stake in its engineering unit just months after a deal with Warburg Pincus was called off. Will soon shift gear to "Do it Yourself" mode as a business strategy with the launch of Harrier, a five-seater sport utility vehicle.

* TATA STEEL: The company's shareholders have approved raising up to 120 bln rupees through non-convertible debentures on private placement basis. The company is looking to "simplify" the company's structure by divesting some of its non-core and subscale assets and aims to take capacity coming out of its Indian operations to 90% in the years to come. The company is the process of shutting down its subsidiary Tayo Rolls in Jamshedpur and sell off some of its assets in South-East Asia to have a leaner structure and trim debt. Plans to develop the Subarnarekha port at a cost of  40-50 bln rupees at the northern Odisha, where the river Subarnarekha merges with the Bay of Bengal.

* TITAN CO: Expects its jewellery division to fetch 400 bln rupees out of an overall 500 bln rupees revenue by 2022-23.

* UNION BANK OF INDIA: Has entered into a tie-up with A.TReDS for discounting invoices of The Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises on the latter's 'TReDS' digital platform, 'invoicemart.com'.

* UPL: The company's whole-time director Kalyan Mohan Banerjee has resigned from his post, effective Aug 1. The company has announced a deal to buy Arysta LifeSciences for $4.2 bln and expects the acquisition to double its revenue to $5.0 bln in 2019-20 (Apr-Mar) on account of likely synergies between the two companies.

* ULTRATECH CEMENT: The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal has began hearing the Binani Cements insolvency resolution case, following cross petitions filed by the company and Rajputana Properties.

* VEDANTA: Has sought "support" from the Environment Ministry to expedite the clearance from the National Green Tribunal for its copper plant in Toothukudi. Sterlite Copper smelter plant at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, would remove a third of domestic production, argues the company.

* WIPRO: Has signed an agreement with US-based Alight Solutions to acquire the latter's India business for $117 mln. The company on Friday said it continues to face visa application rejections but pointed out that  its policy of localisation, which involves hiring locals, is starting to pay off.

* YES BANK: Has announced partnership with Karim Nagar and Warangal smart cities in Telangana to launch an industry-first 'Collaboration-as-aService' platform to address urban development challenges.

* ZEE ENTERTAINMENT ENTERPRISES: Essel Corp plans to acquire 11 mln shares, or 1.15% stake, of the company from another promoter group entity at an estimated price of over 6.1 bln rupees.

* AGRICULTURE: Farmers have so far sown kharif crops over 63.15 mln ha in India, down 9% from 69.64 mln ha a year ago. Over 50 bln rupees worth of crop insurance claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the 2017 kharif season are yet to be paid to farmers, said Ashish Kumar Bhutani, joint secretary-credit and cooperation, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation under the farm ministry.

* AVIATION: Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corp has invited bids to develop a greenfield international airport at Bhogapuram village near Visakhapatnam, six months after the first tender for the airport was cancelled. The Airports Authority of India is likely to finalise a deal with the Gujarat government by next month for the proposed 20-blnrupee Dholera airport.

* BANKING: The automated teller machine operations industry on Friday said introduction of a new 100 rupees note creates many challenges and an investment of 1 bln rupees will be required to recalibrate the countrys 240,000 machines.

* COMMODITIES: The Reserve Bank of India has increased its gold reserves by 600 kg in May to 560.9 tn, the World Gold Council said, citing data from the International Monetary Fund.

* CORPORATE: The Bombay High Court's stay on showcause notices issued by the income tax department to six Tata Trusts will continue, while the matter will be heard next month.

* DEFENCE: The details of India's deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets from France are classified due to an earlier agreement between the two countries to maintain secrecy of all defence deals, the European nation said.

* ECONOMY: India's annual inflation based on the Consumer Price Index for agricultural labourers fell to an 11-month low of 1.94% in June from 2.18% in May, the Labour Bureau said. The subscriber base of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation rose by 743,608 in May, the highest in nine months.

* FAST-MOVING CONSUMER GOODS: Listed dairy companies stand to gain little from the increase in export incentives on dairy products as the sops being offered by the government are not adequate and revenue contribution of foreign markets is minimal.

* INFRASTRUCTURE: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the National Highways Authority of India are gearing up to execute highway projects worth 2.25 trln rupees and 15,000 km in length.

* INSURANCE: The government's health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission may only cost the exchequer 50 bln rupees in the current financial year because of the time taken to roll out the scheme. The flagship health scheme may cost 100 bln rupees only next fiscal when it is rolled out across India.

* LAW: The Supreme Court Collegium has again recommended the name of Justice K.M. Joseph of the Uttarakhand High court for judgeship at the apex court.

* RAILWAYS: The flexi-fare scheme has made tickets of premium trains costlier than airfare in some cases, hitting occupancy across most classes, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India noted in its audit report for Indian Railways. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India has questioned the need for setting up a diesel locomotive manufacturing unit in Marhowra, Bihar, when it aims to electrify all routes by 2021. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp will charge a fee of 12 rupees along with taxes on every ticket booked from service providers such as Yatra, MakeMyTrip, Paytm and Clear Trip.

* REGULATORY: The Securities and Exchange Board of India is likely to come up with new guidelines with an aim to boost the listing of startups in the main platform of the BSE and the NSE. The revised norms may come into force in two months. Companies with outstanding borrowing of at least 1 bln rupees with credit rating of AA and above will have to meet a fourth of its incremental borrowing from bond market starting from 2019-20 (Apr-Mar), SEBI proposed in a consultation paper.

* TAXATION: Threatening to escalate the ongoing trade war with China, US President Donald Trump said he is "ready" to impose tariffs on all Chinese goods worth $505 bln imported by the US. E-commerce companies such as Amazon and Myntra are likely to face an audit by tax authorities to check if they have passed on cuts in goods and services tax rates
to consumers.

* TELECOMMUNICATION: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to allow the Department of Telecommunications to invoke bank guarantees worth 4.5 bln rupees against Aircel. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Friday proposed that the Department of Telecommunications amend its mergers and acquisitions guidelines for payment of spectrum charges. Minority investors are getting edgy over the lack of clarity in Tata Sons' decision to sell Tata Teleservices' enterprise business to group company Tata Communications and the delay in the progress of the deal.

* TRANSPORT: The National Highways Authority of India has tweaked the second set of contracts to be offered under the toll-operator-transfer model faced with prospects of low traffic volumes on certain upcoming highways due to them being parallel projects.

* ADHUNIK METALIKS: Liberty House plans to invest 3 bln rupees to restart and modernise the company and Zion Steel.

* ALEMBIC PHARMACEUTICALS: Company's active pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturing facility at Karakhadi in Gujarat has received establishment inspection report from the US Food and Drug Administration.

* ASHOK LEYLAND: Shares of the company lost nearly 20% in the last two days after the automaker said the government's new norm allowing 20-25% higher payload for trucks will hit demand for at least 4-8 weeks.

* AVANTI FEEDS: Plans to diversify into the fish feed business soon, the company said in its 2017-18 (Apr-Mar) annual report.

* BHARTI AIRTEL: Is looking to slash its debt by half over the next 18 months by raising a total of 560 bln rupees from the sale of stake in its African unit and phase sale of its holding in the entity created by the merger of Indus Towers and BHARTI INFRATEL.

* FORTIS HEALTHCARE: Will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Aug 13 for shareholders to vote on the hospital chain's proposed deal with Malaysian healthcare group IHH.

* GATI: The Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has upheld the order of the GST Appellate Authority against the company's joint-venture Gati Kintetsu Express.

* HATSUN AGRO PRODUCT: Proposed to set up a dairy manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. The installation of the dairy plant is expected to be commissioned by December 2019.

* HINDALCO INDUSTRIES: The company constantly evaluates various options for creating long-term value of shareholders, the company said in response to acquisition of Aleris. Has cut the prices of aluminium billets, wire rods, and ingots by nearly 3% with effect from Thursday.

* INDIAN OIL CORP: Has submitted the highest number of technical bids in the ninth round of auction for city gas distribution licences, followed by BHARAT PETROLEUM CORP's arm Bharat Gas Resources, and Adani Gas, as per final bid data released by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board.

* INFOSYS: Has filed annual report for the year ended Mar 31 on the prescribed Form 20-F with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Has opened digital studio in Berlin, Germany, to provide digital transformation solution. CEO Salil Parekh cannot join a rival company for six months if he decides to leave the company. Will only take the arbitration route to resolve disputes, claims and grievances between its chief executive and the company, should such a situation arise in the future, according to its 20-F report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

* IRB INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPERS: The board will meet on Wednesday to consider raising funds through equity or debt route.

* JAYPEE INFRATECH: The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order on providing interim relief to homebuyers of the company. The company is going through insolvency proceedings, while its parent company JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES is party in a plea moved by homebuyers in the apex court.

* JK PAPER: The Hyderabad bench of the National Company Law Tribunal has approved the
company's 7.8-bln-rupee debt resolution plan for SIRPUR PAPER MILLS, which includes 3.71 bln rupees for debt settlement.

* JSW STEEL: JSW Group owned South West Port has restarted two multi-purpose berths it runs at Mormugao Port Trust in Goa from Jul 6.

* LARSEN & TOUBRO: Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority may have to pay higher per-trip cost for Mumbai Monorail to the service operator Larsen & Toubro-Scomi Engineering consortium.

* MADHAV COPPER: Will introduce new products such as copper bus bars, copper stripes, oxygen free copper rod, paper insulated copper conductor, and mica covered copper conductors, in addition to its existing products.

* MARUTI SUZUKI INDIA: Is optimistic on demand this year because of positive consumer sentiment and a normal monsoon. Has launched ECSTAR range of lubricants and car care products for its ARENA showrooms.

* MONNET ISPAT & ENERGY: The National Company Law Tribunal on Thursday approved the resolution plan submitted by the consortium of JSW STEEL-AION Capital for the company.

* NOVARTIS INDIA: Parent Novartis AG has agreed to buy the rights to a skin-disease drug from developers Galapagos NV and MorphoSys AG.

* NBCC INDIA: Will discuss with the housing minister the issue of taking over stalled housing projects in Delhi-National Capital Region in a few days, Chairman and Managing Director A.K. Mittal said.

* PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK: The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018, to replace an ordinance enacted earlier that empowered the government to confiscate properties of an economic offender who has fled India.

* TVS MOTOR CO: Brakes India, auto parts company of the TVS Group, plans to invest about 1 bln rupees in expanding the capacity at its Naidupeta factory in Andhra Pradesh.

* ULTRATECH CEMENT: Plans to set up five waste-heat-recovery plants with an investment of 5 bln rupees.

* UPL: Private equity group TPG is joining forces with Abu Dhabi Investment Authority to help the  company close its$4.3-bln acquisition of Arysta LifeScience from Platform Specialty Products Corp.

* VEDANTA: Has slashed the prices of aluminium ingots by nearly 4%, effective Thursday. The income tax department, to which the National Securities Depository had transferred all 180 mln shares of Cairn Energy in the company, has moved to dispose the remaining 120 mln shares of the UK oil and gas major estimated to be worth about 27 bln rupees at current prices.

* VIDEOCON INDUSTRIES: The committee of creditors on Jul 10 appointed Anuj Jain as a resolution professional.

* WIPRO: Chairman Azim Premji said the company has started seeing benefits of investments in disruptive technologies and has seen successful outcomes with its clients.

* ZUARI AGRO CHEMICALS: Arm Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers has received environmental clearance to set up a phosphatic fertiliser plant at its existing facility in New  angalore

 * AUTOMOBILE: Honda Cars India has launched Jazz with advanced features, in both petrol and diesel variants with manual transmission. Suzuki Motorcycle India said it will invest around 6 bln rupees to build a second plant in two years.

* AVIATION: Air India has realised 7.24 bln rupees by monetising some of its assets and the proceeds are being used to reduce the airline's debt, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

* BANKING: Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian said there was a period in the recent past when the Reserve Bank of India should have cut interest rates.

* CEMENT: JSW Cement will invest $150 mln to set up a clinker unit and a captive power plant at Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

* COMMODITIES: The farm ministry has asked Directorate General of Foreign Trade to increase export incentives on milk, milk products, and casein to 20% from 10% to boost exports and support domestic prices, Farm Minister Radha Mohan Singh said. The strike by Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana that had cut milk supplies to Mumbai, Pune and other cities from Monday is likely to end after the state government agreed to some demand of the farmers' union.

* EXCHANGES: Brokers on equity derivatives markets are locked in combat with the National Stock Exchange over levy of securities transaction tax following the introduction of physical settlement of trades.

* INFRASTRUCTURE: Construction giant Shapoorji Pallonji Group and global insurance major Allianz are jointly set to acquire WaveRock, a 2.3-mln-sq ft office park in Hyderabad, from New York-based Tishman Speyer and Singapore's GIC for over 18 bln rupees.

* RAILWAYS: The Railway Board has put a proposal by the Prime Minister's Office to install CCTVs at all stations and in train coaches on the slow track as it figures out how to fund the 30-bln-rupee project.

* REALTY: Developers met officials from banks and the finance and housing ministries, and sought rationalisation of goods and services tax rate for the sector. Canada-based private equity firm Brookfield Capital Partners has invested $100 mln in two residential projects of Incor Infrastructure in Hyderabad.

* REGULATORY: SEBI has told the Mauritius government that it will not come out with a list of "high-risk jurisdictions".

* TAXATION: The Central Board of Direct Taxes has chalked out a programme of clearing by Dec-end all high-level disputes, involving an income tax demand of 500 mln rupees or more.

* TELECOMMUNICATION: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India made it mandatory for telemarketers to seek explicit consent of phone users for making commercial calls and sending text messages. The telecom regulator has asked operators to adopt blockchain technology to ensure only registered telemarketers have access to phone databases and that user consent to receive such communication is explicitly recorded.

* TRADE: Commerce secretary Rita Teaotia said there was a "real" possibility that India could lose the trade dispute that the US had filed in the WTO on export subsidies.
