Sensex opens lower, led by Oil & Gas

The Indian benchmark was trading in red in the early session of day’s trade. Oil & Gas sector stocks were on the decline with Oil And Natural Gas Corporation leading the pack followed by Oil India, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation. At 9:21AM BSE SENSEX was at 25268.99 down by -44.75 points or by -0.18 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7569.25 down by -10.95 points or by -0.14 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9230.78 up by 22.12 points or by 0.24 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10045.7 up by 32.91 points or by 0.33 per cent
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1133 , shares advanced were 767 while 318 shares declined and 48 were unchanged
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2315.00,+1.58 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1184.50,+1.20 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 340.00,+1.09 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 447.65,+0.96 per cent), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 105.70,+0.96 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 412.95,-5.47 per cent), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1022.60,-2.68 per cent), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 458.45,-1.91 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2464.35,-0.53 per cent), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 623.20,-0.21 per cent), among others
Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 11054.34 down by -371.35 points or by -3.25 per cent. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 412.95,-5.47 per cent), Oil India Ltd.
