Mid-session: Sensex, Nifty hold early gains

The markets continue to trade in the positive territory during the afternoon session, led by gains in Oil & Gas stocks. Among the individual stocks, Reliance Industries, Housing Development Finance Corporation, Maruti Suzuki India, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank up were among the notable gainers. Shares of Reliance Industries jumped over 2 per cent after company posted better-than-expected earnings for the first quarter.
At 12:21 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex was at 25777.49 up by 135.93 points or by 0.53 per cent and NSE’s broad-based Nifty was at 7698.15 up by 34.25 points or by 0.45 per cent.
