The key benchmark indices are likely to witness a lacklustre opening today as investors will remain on the sidelines ahead of the RBI’s policy review, which is scheduled later in the day. Market expects RBI to keep the rates unchanged; however, any deviation is likely to result in market volatility. Besides, weak trend in most the Asian markets will further dampen investors’ risk taking appetite. Among the Asian stocks, Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading down by nearly 38 points at 15,436; Taiwan Index was at 9,209, down by 120 points; and China’s Shanghai Composite was at 2,216, down by approximately 7 points. Meanwhile, the US markets ended higher in the overnight trading driven by earnings from Berkshire Hathaway. Back home, the BSE’s SENSEX closed at 25723.16 up by 242.32 points or by 0.95 per cent in the previous trading session, and the NSE’s wide-based Nifty ended at 7683.65, up by 81.05 points or by 1.07 per cent.
