Pre Session: Sensex seen opening higher on strong macro data and monsoon

The key Indian equity benchmarks are likely to open on positive note on holiday shortened week on Wednesday as traders likely to welcome the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that the monsoon this year is expected to be “above normal” this year. Further, strong economic data and firm cues from global stocks may also give a lift to market sentiments. Positive trade in the CNX Nifty Index futures for April delivery which rose by 55 points at 7,789.50 at 10:51 am Singapore time signals that the Sensex may open higher today.
Asian stocks extended rally for the sixth straight session on Wednesday as spurt in crude oil prices boosted appeal for energy stocks. Chinese shares rebounded over 1 per cent and Hong Kong rallied over 2 per cent as upbeat China inflation data eased concerns over a slowdown in the world’s second biggest economy. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained over 2 per cent as a weaker yen increased the lure for exporter stocks. Wall Street ended with strong gains on Tuesday amidst higher oil prices that lifted energy shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.94 per cent; the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.80 per cent while S&P 500 rose 0.97 per cent.
