The key domestic benchmark indices opened flat in the morning trading session tracking a mixed trend in Asia and a negative finish at Wall Street overnight as renewed fears over a near-term US Federal Reserve interest rate hike curbed risk taking appetite.
A top Fed official on Tuesday raised the likelihood of a hike in borrowing costs as early as September, raising concerns over capital outflows from emerging markets.
At 09:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28080.87 up by 16.26 points or by 0.06 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8646.75 points, trading higher by 4.2 points or by 0.05 per cent.
On the global front, Asian stocks were trading mixed today after the US Federal Reserve Bank president said the Fed could raise interest rates as soon as September, prompting investors to pause after rallies in recent weeks.
