The key domestic benchmark indices opened higher in the morning trading session tracking a mostly mixed trend across markets in Asia and a strong finish at Wall Street overnight.

The investors across the globe await Fed Chair Janet Yellen’s speech on Friday at Jackson Hole, in which she may offer some cues over the timing of the next US interest rate hike.

Volatility may remain high at the local bourses as traders roll over their positions due to the August Futures & Options (F&O) contract expiry this Thursday.

At 09:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28062.34 up by 72.13 points or by 0.26 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8648.5 points, trading higher by 15.9 points or by 0.18 per cent.

On the global front, Asian stocks were trading mixed today as traders remained in a wait-and-see mode ahead of Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen's speech later this week. US stocks ended higher in the previous trading session as upbeat home sales data signaled a robust recovery in the US economy while a rebound in oil prices also bolstered sentiment.
