Mid-Session: Sensex stays on firm footing; bankex and power stocks up

The Indian equities continued their uptrend in noon session of day’s trade, led by gains in bankex and power stocks, tracking a rally across most Asian stocks as FOMC minutes signaled that interest rates in the world’s biggest economy could stay low in the near-term, bolstered risk taking appetite.
At 12:20 PM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28138.77, up by 133.4 points or by 0.48 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8672.1, up by 48.05 points or by 0.56 per cent.
On the sectoral front, bankex and power stocks were among top gainers on BSE, rising as much as 1.33 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.
