Weighed down by sharp sell-off in consumer durables and realty stocks, the key domestic benchmark indices stayed under selling pressure in late morning deal on Tuesday, tracking a mixed trend across markets in Asia as investors assessing the fallout of Donald’s Trump’s win in the US Presidential elections with his fiscal stimulus plans likely to bolster US economic growth and inflation, which could spur faster interest rate increases in the world’s biggest economy.

At 12:18 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 26451.77, down by 367.05 points or by 1.37 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8168.25, down by 128.05 points or by 1.54 per cent.

In the day’s trade so-far, Sensex touched an intraday high of 26809.61 and intraday low of 26317.89, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8288.55 and intraday low of 8118.55.

In line with benchmark indices, the broader market were bleeding in red with the BSE MIDCAP was at 11974.46, down by 489.56 points or by 3.93 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 11907.04, down by 578.03 points or by 4.63 per cent.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 469.10,-7.55%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 397.80,-6.81%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 899.50,-6.65%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 4905.00,-4.50%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 265.25,-4.07%), among others.

On the flip side, Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 450.00,+1.95%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2139.55,+1.64%), State Bank of India (Rs. 276.35,+1.26%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3300.65,+1.23%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 930.00,+0.88%), were among top gainers on the BSE.

On the sectoral front, consumer durables and realty stocks emerged as top losers, falling as much as 5.76 per cent and 5.06 per cent respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2579, shares advanced were 441 while 1999 shares declined and 139 were unchanged.
