The key domestic benchmark stayed under selling pressure in late morning deal on Wednesday as traders resorted to profit booking in absence of any major trigger on domestic and global front. Rate sensitive stocks such as, realty, auto and financial, saw hefty selling amid looming fear that US Federal Reserve may hike interest rate in the next meeting. Traders keenly awaited the outcome of the state election results for more clarity on the government's capacity to revive stalled reforms.

At 12:25 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex 28139.14, down by 200.17 points or by 0.71 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8735.9, down by 56.4 points or by 0.64 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 28382.32 and intraday low of 28128.56, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8807.9 and intraday low of 8728.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 446.00,-8.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 629.00,-3.25%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 459.95,-2.60%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 280.70,-1.47%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3117.95,-1.37%), among others.

On the flip side, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1309.05,+0.54%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 272.25,+0.54%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1052.20,+0.38%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1314.90,+0.33%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 370.15,+0.31%), were among top gainers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, all the thirteen indices were bleeding in red while realty and auto stocks were leading the decline, falling as much as 3.34 per cent and 2.29 per cent respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2817, shares advanced were 619 while 2062 shares declined and 136 were unchanged.
