On Friday, the key domestic benchmarks ended tad higher in choppy trade, helped by strong buying in IT and Teck stocks, tracking firm cues from global peers. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 28334.25, up by 4.55 points or by 0.02 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8793.55, up by 15.15 points or by 0.17 per cent.
Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were State Bank of India 37580487.00, Bank of Baroda 18572012.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 15246747.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 11598507.00, Idea Cellular Ltd. 11506839.00.
On NSE, total number of shares traded was 119.07 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 22246.92 Crore.
On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 161614 with a total turnover of Rs. 11714.44 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 561696 with a total turnover of Rs. 40451.19 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 2739375 with a total turnover of Rs. 199213.43 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 422520 with a total turnover of Rs. 31543.73 Crore.
As on February 10, 2017, the FIIs stood as net buyer in both equity and debt segments. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4964.41 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1168.22 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4365.34 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1064.31 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 599.07 Crore and Rs. 103.91.

Indian equities are poised to open higher on Monday, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers and strong closing of the Wall Street on Friday on hopes of tax reform by the newly elected President Donald Trump, amid sustained buying by foreign portfolio investors as they rush to avail treaty tax benefit before April 01. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,850.00, up by 42 points or 0.47 per cent, at 10:50 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for Sensex. The investors will react to Index of Industrial Production (IIP) data which contracted was 0.4 per cent year-on-year in December 2016 due to demonetisation led dip in consumer goods production. Traders will also keep an eye on the consumer price index (CPI) data for January which will released after market hours today and wholesale price index (WPI) due tomorrow.
