The Indian equities continued to trade in positive terrain in late morning deal on Monday, tracking firm cues from Asian peers, as investors widened their bet ahead of Brexit negotiations between the U.K. and the European Union, while report that French President Emmanuel Macron's party won a parliamentary majority also gave a lift to sentiment. Reliance Industries rose 1.5 per cent after a report by Bank of America Merill Lynch (BofAML) highlighted that nearly 90 per cent of Reliance Jio users are estimated to have subscribed to its promotional Prime membership plan. At 12:10 hours, the 30-share barometer Sensex was at 31200.09, up by 143.69 points or by 0.46 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9621.65, up by 33.6 points or by 0.35 per cent. In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intra-day high of 31247.69 and intraday low of 31163.35, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9638.75 and intraday low of 9614.9. Among others, Sun TV Network, one of the largest Television Broadcasters in India, advanced nearly 3 per cent after the company launches new digital content platform ‘Sun NXT’.

Shares of Tata Steel advanced nearly 2 per cent after the company said it proposes to sell 8.36 crore equity shares of face value of Rs 2 each of Tata Motors to Tata Sons. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 370.95,+2.29%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 510.80,+1.73%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2853.40,+1.58%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1409.65,+1.57%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2432.50,+1.46%), among others.

On the flip side, Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 525.25,-2.20%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 252.30,-1.21%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 165.00,-1.11%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 523.60,-1.05%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 931.20,-0.99%), were among the top losers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, FMCG and metal stocks emerged as top gainers, adding as much as 0.71 per cent and 0.70 per cent respectively. The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was flat. On BSE out of total shares traded 2632, shares advanced were 1228 while 1253 shares declined and 151 were unchanged.
