Mid-Session: Markets maintain uptrend; Wipro, M&M top gainers

The Indian benchmark indices continued to trade in green during the noon trading session on account of buying in frontline blue chip counters. Sentiments remained upbeat with start of Monsoon Session of Parliament today. The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to be dominated by issues such as cow vigilantism, farmers' protests, Kashmir unrest, action of law enforcement agencies against some opposition leaders over alleged corruption, and India's stand-off with China.
At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 32071.72 up by 50.97 points or by 0.16 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 9911.7 up by 25.35 points or by 0.26 per cent.
In the positive trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 32131.92 and intraday low of 32053.98 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9920.3 and intraday low of 9894.7. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 268.60,+3.51%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 381.00,+1.65%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1398.10,+1.51%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 986.75,+1.51%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 302.25,+1.43%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 328.65,-2.54%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 248.75,-0.72%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 509.95,-0.61%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2688.50,-0.59%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1135.50,-0.37%), among others.
Among the sectors, IT index was at 10153.65 up by 102.05 points or by 1.02%. Rolta India Ltd. (Rs. 62.35,+5.95%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 391.00,+3.91%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 296.05,+3.60%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 268.60,+3.51%), Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 102.95,+1.93%),.
On the flip side, FMCG index was at 10650.49 down by -161.58 points or by -1.49%. Venky's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2037.60,-5.48%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 328.65,-2.54%), Prabhat Dairy Ltd. (Rs. 137.25,-2.21%), VST Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3561.10,-1.88%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd. (Rs. 29.60,-1.82%),.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2547 , shares advanced were 1297 while 1121 shares declined and 129 were unchanged.
