* AVIATION: The top two players in the domestic aviation market--IndiGo and JET AIRWAYS INDIA-- entered the regional connectivity scheme floated by the government by winning 20 and four proposals, respectively.

* BANKING: The Centre has announced a reform-oriented 881 bln rupees capital infusion in 20 public sector banks, with a major chunk flowing into the weaker banks to meet their capital adequacy
requirements.

* INSURANCE: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India will soon be releasing new regulations for brokers.

* POWER: TATA POWER CO, Adani Group, TORRENT POWER and Greenko Group have shown interest in acquiring Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha, The National Green Tribunal has directed the Ministry of Environment and Forest not to grant clearance to any thermal power plant till they comply with the standards set by it.

* RAILWAYS: The railways ministry may soon announce India's largest ever investment in suburban
rail infrastructure to revamp the overloaded networks in Mumbai and Bengaluru at a cost of more than 500 bln rupees.

* SHIPPING: SHIPPING CORP OF INDIA, GREAT EASTERN SHIPPING CO and ESSAR SHIPPING have applied on separate tenders issued by INDIAN OIL CORP and BHARAT PETROLEUM CORP to hire an oil super tanker and a Suezmax tanker, respectively.

* SUGAR: The government may marginally raise the corpus for Sugar Development Fund to 5 bln rupees in the upcoming Budget for 2018-19.

* TAXATION: Homebuyers under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme will also be entitled to concessional goods and services tax rate of 8% for affordable housing.
