* AVIATION: Air India has recommended to the government that its low-cost subsidiary and ground-handling unit be sold to improve the national carrier's financial position in what could be a precursor to its eventual divestment.
-Air India has raised 10 bln rupees from the National Small Savings Fund and expects to mop up 5 bln rupees through short-term borrowings next week.
-GoAir Airbus A320neo engine shutdown last February was caused due to an error in the assembly of an engine component, Directorate General of Civil Aviation revealed.

* CORPORATE: KKR and Co is in talks to acquire a controlling stake in Aadhar Housing Finance.

* HEALTHCARE: NITI Aayog has mooted a proposal to allow private companies to set up infrastructure in government district hospitals for treatment of non-communicable diseases.

* REALTY: Piramal Realty has launched Arav, the second tower that it has built on its 7-acre Piramal Aranya plot, under its 75-bln-rupee development project in Byculla, Mumbai.

* STEEL: A number of Indian and international steel plant equipment makers and technology providers, including BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS, Heavy Engineering Corp, Primetals Technologies, Nippon Steel and Paul Wurth, are set to sign deals in Bhubaneswar next week to manufacture machinery domestically.

* TAXATION: India is planning to seek the UK government's assistance under a bilateral tax treaty to recover disputed tax dues from energy firm Cairn Energy Plc.

* TELECOMMUNICATION: The Telecom Commission has accepted the regulator's recommendations on closure of services, allowing companies to shut down some of their services without surrendering telecom licence.

verification of new mobile phone subscribers, authorities have proposed a new mechanism--a mobile
application with a one-time password.
