Pre Session: Flat opening on cards for Sensex; Eye on 2019 Lok Sabha election

Indian equities may open flat on Thursday, tracking muted trends in SGX Nifty Index Futures and muted cues from global peers. Also, investors will focus on the first phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha election which kicks off on Thursday with 91 constituencies across 20 states voting in the world's largest democratic exercise. Overseas, the Asian stocks held near eight-month highs on Thursday, following flat closing at Wall Street in overnight trade, after a dovish turn by the European Central Bank and milder than expected US inflation. Back home, flat trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for April delivery, which were trading at 11,654.50, up by 3.00 points.
