Sensex rebounds; Sun Pharma, TCS support

Markets have rebounded in the positive terrain with the Sensex trading above 80 points supported by the gains in healthcare, oil & gas and technology stocks. According to the analysts the market is likely to consolidate with a positive bias ahead of the Union Budget to be presented in the parliament in July.

At 10:20AM BSE SENSEX was at 25145.63, up by 82.96 points or by 0.33 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 7517.5, up by 24.3 points or by 0.32 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9207.19, up by 26.35 points or by 0.29 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10047.08, up by 65.7 points or by 0.66 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 25209.61 and an intraday low of 25096.55, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 7538.75 and an intraday low of 7503.8.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 660.00,+3.87%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2361.10,+2.24%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 544.35,+1.62%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2537.95,+1.32%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3224.90,+1.11%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 246.10,-2.09%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 162.10,-1.94%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 332.15,-1.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1155.75,-1.53%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 384.00,-1.18%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_HCS index was at 11212.3 up by 224.99 points or by 2.05%. Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 498.55,+5.68%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 1419.75,+4.49%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 660.00,+3.87%), Strides Arcolab Ltd. (Rs. 635.45,+2.25%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1047.10,+1.80%),.

On the flip side, In BSE, BSE Metal index was at 13040.21 down by -69.44 points or by -0.53%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 161.35,-2.33%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 162.10,-1.94%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 384.00,-1.18%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 291.40,-1.05%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 320.90,-0.56%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was positive. On BSE out of total 2259 shares traded, 1439 shares advanced, 734 shares declined while 86 remained unchanged.

On the global front, Asian shares got off to a cautious start after a weak performance on Wall Street, and global bond yields dropped on creeping doubts on the strength of the US economic recovery.
