Pre-market: Lacklustre opening seen for markets; IT stocks to remain in focus 21/04/2015

Extending losses incurred in the previous trading session, the BSE’s 30-share bellwether index- Sensex is expected to open weak today amid concerns over current account deficit for the March quarter. Besides, investors will also remain on the sidelines ahead of the key quarterly earnings of IT giants Wipro and HCL Technologies later today. 

Meanwhile, most of the Asian markets were trading in green on Tuesday tracking positive cues from the US stocks. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading up by177 points at 19,811; Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was at 27,577, up by over 480 points; and Singapore’s Straits Times was marginally up by 1.20 points at 3,504 in the early trading session. Back home, the BSE SENSEX closed at 27886.21, down by -555.89 points or by -1.95 per cent and the NSE’s wide-based Nifty closed at 8448.1, down by -157.9 points or by -1.83 per cent on Monday. The BSE MIDCAP closed at 10553.96, down by -217.81 points or by -2.02 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP closed at 11369.59, down by -252.64 points or by -2.17 per cent.
