* AUTOMOBILE: Volkswagen has moved the Supreme Court against the National Green Tribunal's order slapping a 5-bln-rupee penalty on the company for installing 'cheat devices' in its diesel cars in India to deceive emission tests.
* BANKING: The Reserve Bank of India is likely to replace the controversial one-day default norm and give a grace period of 30 days to identify the early stress of borrowers.
* ECONOMY: A panel named by the Reserve Bank of India to study its capital structure is likely to identify excess reserves of up to 3 trln rupees, or 1.5% of GDP, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
* ENERGY: The Solar Energy Corp of India has extended the deadline for receiving bids for the government's manufacturing-linked solar scheme to May 14.
* FINANCE: The first day of JM Financial Products' public issue of non-convertible debentures drew bids aggregating 1.25 bln rupees against the base issue of 2.00 bln rupees.
* TELECOMMUNICATION: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India issued a draft regulations on reporting to the regulator all interconnection agreements of television channel broadcasters and distributors having 200,000 or more subscribers in a year.
